Gallareta chica (White winged coot)

Días pasados recorriendo el sector costero de el ex balneario El brete vemos con Roby movimientos entre los juncos, al no haber llevado los prismáticos enfoco con mi lente hacia dicha parte y puedo visualizar estas Gallaretas.
Roby me dice...Pollonas, no le contesto, tienen escudete amarillo.
Gran sorpresa fue para nosotros ya que ninguna de las dos Gallaretas con estas características están citadas para nuestra provincia. Luego de esperar un rato para verificar la identificación, ya que había que observar las patas para sacarse las dudas entre la Gallareta chica y la Gallareta ligas rojas veo que una de ellas comienza a levantar vuelo y al ver que carecen de la liga roja en la pierna confirmamos el avistamiento.
Esta Gallareta mide 30 centímetros de longitud, camina bastante y además es la mas voladora.
Tiene el ápice de las remeras secundarias de color blanco, y el escudete es redondeado y de color amarillo.

Habita, lagos y lagunas tanto de agua dulce como salobre. Anida en zonas bajas entre la vegetación o pajonales; donde no hay vegetación suficiente lo hace a plena vista en un nido flotante amarrado al fondo con la vegetación acuático. Pone de 4 a 9 huevos de color castaño claro con muchas pintas oscuras, repartidas por toda la superficie. Los huevos miden aproximadamente 49 mm x 33 mm; y los pichones son nidífugos, a las 6 horas abandonan el nido. El plumaje del pichón es gris plomizo, con la zona gular blanca, pico parduzco, iris castaño.

Inhabits lakes and ponds both freshwater and brackish water.
