Llegó la nueva guía de identificación ( The new field guide arrived)

The Osprey is a species of bird of prey Pandionidae family. It is a medium-sized raptor, with a worldwide distribution. Appears on all continents except Antarctica, although in South America not only migrates nesting. Ave no close relatives, is the only species of the genus Pandion.
The Osprey is between 52 and 60 centimeters tall with a wingspan ranging from 152-167 cm. Upper parts dark brown, and white underparts, mottled brown with a dark mask on the sides of the head. Long, narrow tail and wings angled, it is easy to identify. It has lengthened feathers on the nape forming a crest that bristles frequently.
A bird is particularly well adapted to their diet of fish. It has some strong legs, fitted with scales that facilitate the attachment of the fish, and long, curved claws. You can close the nostrils to keep out water during dives.
Locates its prey from the air, often hovering prior to plunging feet first to catch the fish.
The average life expectancy of an osprey is 20-25 years.
These photos were the surprise of the day for the last 6 months long traveled the coast of Paraná River, but this was the first time I could spot and photograph this eagle.
Performed two flybys to the sector where we were, at the end of its pass over our heads and having the sun in front began a dive toward the water surface, which could not shoot because they had the sun in front.
The photographs were taken in 2000 meters upstream of the Arroyo Garupá in Misiones Province

The last blog entry dedicated to this bird was back in June, shortly after I started work as a photographer of birds.
Over time I refined my technique, which enabled me to improve some quality of the photographs, while I was increasing the amount of data to the blog, for that reason I will make a more complete description of this bird.
The Red-crested finch is a bird that is between 13 and 14 cms, with a striking crest half hidden by bright red rump, the underparts are red lipstick, the female is paler and lacks the crest as male.
their Habitat are forests, savannas, and scrubland, it is usual to see it on the floor, and sometimes I could ever sighting was in pastures bordering roads.
Usually found alone or clustered, his character is nervous, jumpy and restless.

Frutero corona amarilla (Black-goggled tanager)

These photos I have saved since early November, was full of doubts regarding the identification of the bird, is a bit difficult to identify through draws, but thanks to the stuff at the web, comparing forecasts and photos and risking finally confirming the site with friendly people I have foto-mundosilvestre been identified.
Back in the month of June I spotted and photographed the male, quite restless and unstable, a different attitude that confused me a bit because this female was very quiet on the rocks of the Brook of Prov. Park. "Cañadón de Profundidad".
They can compare the difference with respect to male plumage, the female is much paler, has no black mask and yellow crown.
I hope that with the advent of new Identification Guide is complete these questions since it is illustrated with drawings and photographs. In a short while!!

Golondrina parda (Brown chested martin)

We were returning home after visiting this area of Route 204 because the heat was becoming unbearable, although it was 9:30 in the morning we reached this place at 5:15 am but the temperature is 34 degrees were feel.
From the car I can see these 3 swallows perched on the cable and not wasted the opportunity to photograph them.
I like the pictures in which the bird turns its gaze toward the camera and the second photo I could get the attention of one of them.

Some time ago, but just on my trip to Iguazú could see many Puffbirds in the trees on the side of National Route 12 when begins the forest belonging to Iguazu National Park, but due to the speed that the bus was carrying could not photograph any ..
